Invaluable Opportunity

Beyond the monetary award, retained candidates will be given the opportunity to attend an OCCA meeting and network with professionals in the P&C industry.

Property and Casualty insurance is broadly defined as protection against damages to your business, car and home as well as any legal liabilities that might result from damage to the property of others.

Actuaries working in the P&C field take on various roles within insurance companies. Two traditional areas of actuarial work are reserving and pricing. However, many other departments within insurance companies also employ actuaries. As a P&C actuary, you may also choose to work for a consulting firm.

An actuarial career within the P&C field will be challenging and very rewarding.

  • Projected employment growth in the Canadian P&C industry for actuarial roles
  • Use of predictive analytics is the most advanced in this segment of actuarial work
  • Regulatory changes and technological advances make P&C a dynamic and exciting place to be. Examples include telematics and usage-based insurance, price optimization, etc.
